How Could I Forget? is a new, original musical that blends heartfelt storytelling, humour and unforgettable songs. Written by accomplished musician Joe Carnall Jnr (Milburn, Ex-Reverend & The Makers), this intimate actor-musician show first wowed audiences with sold-out debut performances in 2025. Now, it hits the road on a Northern tour in Autumn 2026.
Set in Sheffield, the story follows Billy, a young man juggling student life and family as his grandfather Jack faces dementia. As Jack’s memories begin to slip, the story moves fluidly through time – jumping between past and present, memory and reality. Moments from different decades collide around the familiar sounds of a living-room piano, bringing with them a rich mix of musical styles and genres shaped by a lifetime of songs.
Moving, funny and uplifting, the show is a love letter to grandparents and the lives they’ve lived. How Could I Forget? celebrates how music can unlock memories, bridge generations and hold onto stories when words fail. It more then a musical – it’s a reminder of the songs we share, the moments that shape us and the people we never truly lose.
