Be part of Civic150 — our special heritage project celebrating 150 years of Barnsley Civic and the stories, people and history that have shaped it.
Join us for our free archive taster workshops, delivered in partnership with Barnsley Civic and Barnsley Archives and Local Studies. These friendly, informal sessions are a chance to find out more about the project, explore the Civic’s past, and uncover Barnsley’s wider social history over the last 150 years.
You’ll get hands-on with archive and research skills and learn how you can get involved in helping to preserve and share local history as part of Civic150.
Whether you’re a history lover, curious to learn more about Barnsley, or just fancy coming along for a chat, everyone’s welcome.

The Civic 150 is a two-year project working towards to the building’s 150th birthday on 25th January 2028, supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund.
