Over two consecutive Saturdays in August, a group of talented young people aged 14 to 18 came together to create a striking new mural for the town in a project organised by Barnsley Civic.
The project saw young people dedicate their time and skills to transforming a wall in Mandela Gardens into a vibrant piece of public art with local artist Adam Briscoe.
Adam praised the participants for their hard work saying;
“They’ve absolutely smashed it. Some even came back both weekends, showing real dedication and courage. It takes guts to put your art out there on a wall for the whole town to see, and they’ve done us proud! The result is a mural that reflects the pride, creativity and interests of Barnsley’s next generation. The is a testament to the imagination and determination of Barnsley’s youth — and a reminder of the importance of giving them a platform to shine.”
This project was supported by Barnsley Council’s Great Childhood Ambition.
