Barnsley Civic is proud to launch its first ever Winter Charity Ball on Saturday 8 November. This year’s Sleeping Beauty-themed event will be an evening of fine dining and unique entertainment, all presented in Barnsley Civic’s magnificent main theatre space. This is a chance for Barnsley’s businesses, communities and local people to show their support for this much-loved institution; whilst also having a great night out.
As Barnsley Civic approaches its 150th anniversary, the event will celebrate the building’s vital role at the heart of Barnsley’s civic and cultural life since 1877. The evening will support the current cultural and community mission of Barnsley Civic and also help raise essential funds to safeguard this cherished landmark for generations to come.
Barnsley Civic will be transformed into a Sleeping Beauty-themed ballroom. Guests can expect:
- A sparkling drinks reception and table wine (courtesy of Globe Holidays)
- A delicious three-course meal
- Live entertainment throughout the evening
- Raffle prizes and an exclusive auction experience
- An afterparty and disco to dance the night away
Barnsley Civic is a registered charity and relies on the generosity of supporters and customers to continue its work. This annual fundraising event will directly support creative opportunities for local people and protect this important piece of Barnsley’s civic heritage.
Every ticket, bid and donation will help Barnsley Civic to:
- Give local children their first taste of theatre, art, and storytelling; sparking creativity and confidence that can last a lifetime.
- Continue working with resident theatre group Cross the Sky, supporting learning disabled and autistic adults to create brand-new theatre shows that tell their own personal stories.
- Maintain and preserve Barnsley Civic’s Grade II listed building; whilst upgrading the public spaces to be more accessible, sustainable, and financially resilient.
Cross the Sky member:
“When I was diagnosed autistic, I felt really ashamed. I tried so hard to make out that I was just like everyone else, without this thing holding me back… I felt like an outcast… Cross the Sky is brilliant. When I started, they were so welcoming, performing makes me feel really good. I love singing and acting, I just think it keeps culture alive”
Dan Winder. Barnsley Civic’s CEO & Artistic Director:
“I can’t wait to welcome you to Barnsley Civic for the first of what promises to be an annual highlight in Barnsley’s social calendar. This is a chance to relax with friends and colleagues and enjoy the very best hospitality that Barnsley Civic has to offer – all whilst supporting the very best of local causes.”
Tickets are on sale from September 1st, with early bird tickets available at £67.50 per person or £649 for a table of ten people until 30 September, after which the standard ticket price will be £80. The reception drinks and table wine are kindly sponsored by Globe Holidays
