We’re delighted to announce that our artist in residence, Ailish Treanor, has been selected to join the Yorkshire Sculpture Network 2025, a major professional development programme run by Yorkshire Sculpture International (YSI).

YSI is a partnership between four of Yorkshire’s leading cultural institutions: the Henry Moore InstituteLeeds Art GalleryThe Hepworth Wakefield, and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Together, they champion Yorkshire’s rich sculptural heritage; shaped by figures like Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, while supporting today’s artists in pushing the boundaries of contemporary sculpture.

The Sculpture Network was launched in 2020 to nurture and connect artists working in and across sculptural practices. For its 2025 edition, a new group of artists from across the region will take part in a three-month summer programme, running from July to early October, with activity based both online and at the YSI partner venues. As a selected artist, Ailish will:

  • Receive tailored one-to-one mentoring from curators and creative professionals
  • Participate in events, workshops and networking opportunities
  • Access the Henry Moore Institute’s specialist research library
  • Receive a bursary of £800

Ailish’s 2024 exhibition Ulterior Motifs was created during a six-month artist residency at Barnsley Civic. Her work is informed by observations from a variety of sources: ‘Trompe l’oeil’ and other traditional decorative painting techniques; art historical periods such as Ancient Egyptian and Art Nouveau; jewellery shop window displays, and stage set design; consumerism and mass production.

The Yorkshire Sculpture Network offers a wider platform for Ailish to expand on these ideas and continue developing her unique voice within the wider sculptural landscape of the region.
