Write a 1–4 minute speech on anything that means something to you and enter The Teens Speech Awards, a unique event by Hive South Yorkshire in partnership with Barnsley Civic.
Your speech can be funny, serious, surreal, cutting, or bold. It could be fictional or inspired by your lived experience — anything goes!
Enter your speech to our competition beforehand and you could win book vouchers. Deadline: 11th Feb 2026

At our special event on Friday 20th February, we’ll announce our winners, with many of the speeches will be read aloud for an audience.
Speeches will also be published on Barnsley Civic and Hive South Yorkshire’s websites.
