Teenage Wildlife Vol 4: Kirk Balk Tales
Teenage Wildlife is a young person's community theatre project that collects and celebrates the stories of youth culture and teenage experiences in Barnsley over the past 80 years.
Initially part of a Historic England funded initiative of the same name, the first edition of Teenage Wildlife took place in 2022 and focused on stories from the Eldon Street area of Barnsley. Since then, we have worked with drama students from Netherwood Academy, Horizon Community College, and this year Kirk Balk Academy, to bring to life stories from former students.
Working alongside talented drama practitioners Becky Newbould and Gemma Whelan (collectively known as We Great Ladies), this performance brings to life the stories of students Jenny, Julie, Mark, Sandra, Scott and Susanna, following four months of drama workshops.
