Barnsley Civic announces its second Zine Fair on Saturday 10 August 2024, sponsored by The Old Ivy Shed Cheesecakery, Victorian Arcade, Barnsley
Following on from the success of the first zine fair in February, the event is moving into Barnsley Civic’s main theatre space with over 40 stalls and an alternative maker’s market planned.
A zine or zines are predominately self-published, hand-made magazines which can be collaged, photocopies or produced digitally and printed. The alternative makers market will showcase the best local young talent and emerging talents in ceramics, illustration, textiles, accessories and other locally made crafts.
Barnsley Zine Fair & Alternative Makers Market is partnered with Thought Bubble Festival, Yorkshire’s biggest Comic Art Festival who have curated a programme of free, drop-in magazine making workshops and an artist talk.
Jason White, Community Engagement Manager said:
We’re really exciting to be holding our second zine fair, following on from the success of our first earlier this year and with that supporting lots of local talent.
It’s a great opportunity to support local young and emerging writers, illustrators and comic book artists. Alongside them is our Alternative Makers Market, again local artists selling ceramics, prints, jewellery, accessories and much more. It’s the perfect place to buy a gift or treat yourself, with prices starting from as little as £1.
The event is free to enter and takes place at Barnsley Civic, Hanson Street, Barnsley on Saturday 10 August from 10.30am to 4.00pm.
