We want to create more opportunities for young, working class and emerging artists to develop and recognise that economic barriers can stop creatives from flourishing and the difficulty to get the right equipment and materials, find studio/rehearsal space, production costs, or even travel costs for an interview.
To address these challenges head-on, we are proud to introduce our seed commission program, designed to provide vital support to artists in Barnsley. Through this initiative, we will offer a limited number of micro bursaries ranging from £100 to £500, distributed across two rolling periods: May to July and September to December.
Applicants must:
- Live and/or Work in Barnsley
- Have a direct need for the funding
- Be able to clearly articulate how the commission will positively impact their practice
We positively encourage artists who are under 35 and/or from the global majority, LGBTQIA+, D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent and/or a challenged socio-economic group to apply.
How to apply:
Please either fill in the application form https://forms.gle/tyi3PmXBxJMPWgJr5 or submit a video to programme@barnsleycivic.co.uk (no longer than 5 minutes) telling us
