TEENAGE WILDLIFE

Join us for a brand-new piece of oral history inspired community theatre by students from Horizon Community College, as we celebrate the third year of our Teenage Wildlife outreach and engagement project.
This National Lottery Community Fund supported project combines oral history and verbatim theatre to celebrate the stories of youth culture and teenage experiences in Barnsley over the past 80 years.
In Autumn 2024, our Community Engagement team were out in the Wards of Dodworth and Kingstone collecting memories and stories of those who grew up in these areas. It was clear that the connective thread between those stories were that they were all former students of Holgate, Kingstone, Broadway and Charter schools.
To bring those stories to life, we worked with young people from Horizon Community College, the school which was formed in 2012 from a merger of Holgate and The Kingstone School.
Since January, a cast of twelve Year 9 and 10 students have been guided by artist and drama practitioners We Great Ladies (Becky Newbould & Gemma Whelan). On Monday 10th May, they share their work and these wonderful real life stories with you!
