Calling Barnsley: Book Launch

Join local theatre company LUNG to celebrate the book launch of Calling Barnsley – a collection of monologues, adapted from interviews of people across the borough.
‘Thatcher’s dead. What do we do now?’
In Barnsley town, emergency services stand on a bridge – trying to convince a stranger not to jump. At a sports hall in Penistone, a pair of sumo wrestlers prepare to charge. Up Goldthorpe way, an effigy of Maggie Thatcher is paraded down the high street waiting to be set alight.
In a town where every street has a story, we invite you to lift the receiver and listen to the real, untold stories that pulse beneath the surface. This is more than a call. This is a conversation. This is Barnsley, speaking for itself – past, present, and future.
Ticket holders will be treated to a live performance of these electric stories, an exclusive Q&A with the project creators and a free, signed copy of the book.
