A message from our CEO Helen Ball

We announced on Monday 12th October that we were lucky enough to receive some funding from the DCMS Culture Recovery Fund. The total funding we received was £57,362.

This funding will replace some of the income we have lost due to Coronavirus and enable us to protect existing jobs up to the end of March 2021.

Beyond March our future remains challenging.

I know that many of our fellow arts organisations, both locally such as the Lamproom Theatre and further afield were not successful and also that many freelance artists and companies have not been as lucky as we have.

I also know that we are very fortunate to have been able to re-open now when many others have not.

As Chief Executive of The Civic I want to personally thank everyone who has and continues to support us and state that myself and my team will continue to do whatever we can to support the arts and events sector to thrive locally in Barnsley.

We are all feeling the effects of a very difficult time and we must try as much as we can to support each other.

If you are an audience member, theatre supporter or just generally care about the town please consider visiting your local theatres and venues. We all need your help to keep going.
